ABOUT

Brenda Burdette is a former television news anchor/reporter/writer and producer who spent nearly 17 years chasing hard news stories in cities across the country (her favorite was San Francisco where she worked at the NBC and ABC stations).

When she left the news world, Brenda immersed herself in Interior Architecture & Design courses, yoga, healing, art, and raising her two children as a way to erase the harshness of what she had seen in her career and create a more peaceful life.

Brenda has combined her love of research/writing with her never-ending quest for discovering inspiring design, art, & architecture.  She travels the world looking for the most beautiful design-related travel spots– all the while connecting with healers, poets & artists along the way. This website and her Instagram account @BrendaBurdetteDesign are ways to share these finds and showcase the serene spaces she designs.

After 3 years, a passion project of mine is finally coming to fruition! I can’t wait to share the details soon…. It focuses on serenity, peace, and filling your home with things that make you joyful.

Life asks so much from us— so our spaces should allow us to reflect, slow down, and relax. For me, that means natural light, room to move, meaningful objects, people that I love, and a sense that everything has a place.

Serenity doesn’t mean a home has to be perfect or empty, it just means that it brings you a sense of calm.

Good interior design is to a space what meditation is to the mind. 🤍

What makes your home feel peaceful?

How to make a bedroom cozy, neutral, minimal, but also interesting? Layers and textures.

Here at the beautiful RH Newport Beach, stylists have expertly used a shimmering chandelier, reeded wood furniture, textural ceramics, and gold-gilded painting to add visual interest to a calm room.

Add soft bedding, stacks of cushy pillows and one long lumbar pillow in a contrasting color, it is the perfect place to begin and end each day.

My favorite part of the room is the dramatic mirror that reflects more light into the space… What’s your favorite thing about it?
