WITH CHOCOLATE CHUNKS & DECADENT ICING

During the pandemic, banana bread had its moment. It’s quick and easy, but it can be a little ho-hum. This recipe, I promise you, is anything but boring. It has nice chunks of chocolate, it’s rich and moist, AND it has a swirl of gooey icing to take it over the top. I got this recipe from my friend Anita, whose mom Janet makes it best. My version is almost as good. Here is the Best Chocolate Banana Bread Recipe Ever…

BEST CHOCOLATE BANANA BREAD

Prep Time: 30 minutes

Cook Time: 1 hour

Total Time: 1 1/2 hours

Serving Size: 6-8

INGREDIENTS

1 1/4 cups sugar (I use half applesauce to cut back on sugar and add moistness)

1/2 cup butter

2 eggs

1/2 cup of sour cream

1 cup (heaping) of mashed bananas

1 tsp vanilla

1 1/2 cups flour

1/4 tsp. salt

1 tsp baking soda

1 cup good milk chocolate chips (I prefer Guittard)

1 cup of powdered sugar

2 tsp of milk

DIRECTIONS

Preheat oven to 350-degrees. Grease and flour one 9 x 5″ loaf pan. Put parchment paper on the bottom and grease it, too.

Cream sugar and butter; add eggs, sour cream, bananas and vanilla.

Sift together flour, salt and baking soda. Add them to the creamed sugar mixture. Mix well. Stir in the chocolate chips.

Bake for one-hour or until a toothpick comes out clean when poked into the center. In the meantime, mix the powdered sugar with the milk and a dash of vanilla.

When the bread is done, glaze it with the icing. Enjoy!

FINAL THOUGHTS

So, if chocolate is your thing (it is certainly mine, if you haven’t guessed), then be sure to check out our recipes for the Best Chocolate Cake Recipe Ever or our Chocolate Caramel Tart, which was adapted from a Giada De Laurentis recipe and is AMAZING. Cheers.

This recipe is initially from Marilyn Lawrence and was adapted by Janet Lauer and Anita Santoro.

After 3 years, a passion project of mine is finally coming to fruition! I can’t wait to share the details soon…. It focuses on serenity, peace, and filling your home with things that make you joyful.

Life asks so much from us— so our spaces should allow us to reflect, slow down, and relax. For me, that means natural light, room to move, meaningful objects, people that I love, and a sense that everything has a place.

Serenity doesn’t mean a home has to be perfect or empty, it just means that it brings you a sense of calm.

Good interior design is to a space what meditation is to the mind. 🤍

How to make a bedroom cozy, neutral, minimal, but also interesting? Layers and textures.

Here at the beautiful RH Newport Beach, stylists have expertly used a shimmering chandelier, reeded wood furniture, textural ceramics, and gold-gilded painting to add visual interest to a calm room.

Add soft bedding, stacks of cushy pillows and one long lumbar pillow in a contrasting color, it is the perfect place to begin and end each day.

My favorite part of the room is the dramatic mirror that reflects more light into the space… What’s your favorite thing about it?
