THE EASIEST AND MOST DELICIOUS

If I’m famous for anything in my family (other than being a tad dramatic), it is these decadent cinnamon rolls. I make them every Christmas and Easter morning and, if I may say so, they are the hit of both holidays. They are gooey and delicious, packed with butter and sugar. I know people often look for ways to make a recipe healthy, BUT I urge you to stay with the indulgence of this recipe. It is worth it!
DECADENT CINNAMON ROLLS
Cook Time: 25 minutes
Total Time: 2 hours (not including time it takes for dough to rise)
Serving Size: 8 jumbo or 12 small
INGREDIENTS
ROLLS
- 0ne package of frozen bread dough loaves (I use Bridgford)
- 2 cups granulated sugar
- One pound of salted butter
- Cinnamon
- 1 1/2 cups organic raisins
- 2 tbsp flour
ICING
- 2 1/2 cups powdered sugar
- 1/4 cup Milk of your choice
- Splash of vanilla
DIRECTIONS
Thaw the bread dough according to the package instructions the day before serving. The next day, roll the thawed bread dough into a slab that is 1/2” thick. Cut the butter into 1/4” slices. Add the slices to the top of dough slab. Then generously sprinkle the sugar onto the top. This layer of sugar will be thick. Now sprinkle cinnamon on top (to taste). Add the raisins evenly on the top of the sugar/cinnamon mixture.
Now, take one end of the slab of dough and carefully roll it into a roll. Once the dough is in a large roll, slice into 2” slices. Place each slice in a buttered glass pan leaving a lot of room between each slice (slices should NOT be touching). Cover the rolls with a damp cloth and put in a warm corner to rise (3-6 hours). They should double in size.
Bake in a preheated oven at 375-degrees for 25-35 minutes. During the last 10 minutes, check often to make sure they are not burning. Make the icing by adding the milk to the powdered sugar and adding a splash of vanilla. You can add more powdered sugar or milk to get the consistency you want. I prefer it not too thick and not too thin.
After the rolls are golden brown, remove from the oven and pour the icing on top. Serve and enjoy!
FINAL THOUGHTS
If you want the icing to be white, I recommend using cow’s milk, as nut milk will make it a tan color. These are great fresh out of the oven.
