A LIST OF COOL, LESSER KNOWN ART & DESIGN SPOTS IN PARIS

Art and Design Spots in Paris- The Louvre in the background with the Ferris Wheel in the Tuileries.
THE TUILERIES GARDEN

One can’t go to Paris without it being an art and design trip in some way. Everything is beautifully designed— the parks are filled with sculptures, the buildings are adorned with elegant architectural elements and even the gardens are based on symmetry and the principle of imposing order on nature. Of course, with so much beauty all around, there are certain sites that are a must— The Louvre, The Tuileries, Seine, Arc de Triomphe, etc… If, however, you have hit all of those ”must see” places and have extra time for some more obscure art and design spots in Paris, this list is for you…

BEAUTIFULLY DESIGNED RESTAURANTS

MONSIEUR BLEU

A bold, but grand restaurant at the base of the Palais de Tokyo museum designed by the French design legend, Joseph Dirand. Although this restaurant opened in 2013, the design is as relevant today as it was when it debuted. Thick slabs of green and black marble face the walls, bars, & floors. This bold stone is juxtaposed against white walls, fluted details and large expanses of aged brass. I love the design of the interior. The terrace is a beautiful place to dine during the day, with a lovely view of the Eiffel Tower in the background.

-GIRAFE

Girafe is the newest venture by Paris Society, the same group that owns Monsieur Bleu. Joseph Dirand also designed this beautiful seafood restaurant with a nod to the 30s. It’s a bit brighter and lighter than Monsieur Bleu, but still has a warmth and grandeur to the design. The terrace has a gorgeous view of the Eiffel Tower.
